Welcome to (f)unfussy!

Welcome to (f)unfussy! We are a community of people who are ok being a little ‘fussy’. There is strength in knowing what you want, and we are not ashamed to be ourselves and ask for what we need.

The origin of (f)unfussy lies in an Airbnb rental description. When searching for a weekend getaway for myself and my husband, an ‘unfussy chalet’ (I know, I know) caught my eye, and I declared it perfect. My husband then informed me that neither the chalet nor I was unfussy; and, after some attempts on my part to prove him wrong, he clarified that it wasn’t a bad thing. He liked that I was fussy, that I was someone with ideas and opinions.

Being raised in the Midwest, I wrestled with the idea that being fussy (maybe fastidious? my one friend suggested) was ok. As I spoke with friends, certain that they would back me up, I was forced to admit that I was not the laid-back person I believed myself to be; and the only person I had been fooling was myself.

But why would you want to be unfussy? one friend questioned. Having expectations is not a bad thing! And so, I reconsidered; and realized I like being fussy. I like having expectations, and being particular is not a bad thing. I decided to embrace who I am, and I invite you to join me in being (f)unfussy.
